Nowhere else in the world is such a big tradition around beer like in Germany, especially Bavaria. That is the reason why there is so much beer being drunk in Bavaria. It was the same in the past, as lots of „Herbstfests“ have been celebrated at that time to consume the beer year production to make space in the beer cellars so that the brewers could make new beer from the fresh harvested ingredients. The most famous fair of this form is the Oktoberfest.
In Bavaria is more than the half of German breweries. The beer belongs to Bavaria like the Oktoberfest. Because the Bavarians upkeep their traditions and beer drinking is one of them, so they drink lots of it. They consume 40% more beer than the average of the other federal states.
The Bavarians like to eat much and solid, though. The Weisswurst (white sausage) tastes twice as good with a cold Weissbier (wheat beer). And a knuckle of pork is more digestible with a good beer.
