Since 1952 the capital city Munich invites artists from the fields of graphic art and design to a Oktoberfest-poster-motif contest. At this year’s contest for the Oktoberfest-poster, organized by the department of tourism of the capital city Munich, the jury chose the winning motif among 18 designs from eleven participants. Since 2000, the motif of the Oktoberfest-poster is selected in a closed contest. The awardees of the “Poster & Media Grand Prix of the Association of outdoor advertising e. V.” are invited, and, since 2006, the Munich Design Schools and Design Academies, on the initiative of the tourism department, in order to sponsor young designers. The participants predominantly made use of the right to hand in two designs, each. They are getting an interest fee of 500 euro. The artists and agencies, whose designs were presented to the jury without the knowledge of the participants, were from Munich and Germany.
