The "Haberfeldtreiben" took place, when the authority broke the law or offences of singele persons against convention and morale. Thereby a group of masked and black painted men hast gathered on a hill or field near the village and then started making unbelievable noise. Thereby they called their fictious names and then they made noise with guns, rattles and so on.
These people alway stood incognito because they were prosecuted by the law.
As soon as enough listeners have gathered the reading of reprehension veses has begun. Then the reader asked: "is des wahr?"(is that true), they answered: "Ja! Wahr is!"(yes! It is true) and the reder replied: "Nachad treibts zua!"(go on!). After hundreds of these people have been arrested, no "Haberfeldtreiben" took place anymore.
Today, a "Haberfeldtreiben" takes place every last saturday of August in Miesbach. They make fun of the city hall employees and bosses there. Lots of visitors see this event every year.
